The Algogear™ XVC-1011-UC Upconverter delivers the technology of the Algogear Upconverter combined with Algolith’s industry-leading Noise Reducer, the Algogear VNR-1002-MD. This solution provides best-in-class conversion from SD to HD video formats allowing signals to be cleaned up and processed before being upconverted. The combination of both functions on one card offers a new level of integration. This technology provides broadcasters with more signal processing per card, significantly reducing their cost per channel.
Cleaning SD images with grainy textures or random noise with the Algogear Noise Reducer before upconverting dramatically increases picture quality. The XVC-1011-UC also offers advanced de-interlacing, directional content adaptive scaling and adaptive detail enhancement for superior conversion quality. Standard and custom aspect ratio conversion and SD to HD color space conversion are also supported. It supports a minimum delay or reference aligned mode with additional variable delay. Active Format Descriptor (AFD) control is fully supported by the XVC-1011-UC.
The integrated Video Noise Reducer utilizes several advanced noise reduction technologies to remove noise both as a pre-processor prior to encoding, or as a post-processor following decoding. When used as a post-processor, the VNR will correct any DCT-based compression artifacts such as mosquito noise and block artifacts, as well as many other types of random noise that result from analog to digital conversion, recording equipment or low-light captures. In addition, detail enhancement processing allows for image detail recovery without introducing halos or ringing.
