openGear is a non-proprietary, open platform designed by Ross Video that gives broadcasters the option to choose which products they want, in any combination they want, without the requirement or investment in multiple frame standards or control and monitoring systems.

openGear offers customers the choice of over 200 best-in-class products from over 20 of the world’s leading manufacturers of broadcast solutions including 9 high-end video processing solutions from Algolith. All openGear partner solutions are accessible through one easy-to-use unified Control and Monitoring system, the Dashboard Web interface. Remote access via Dashboard offers even further versatility. The 2RU openGear frame is available in both a 10-slot or a 20-slot configuration. This allows openGear to tie in with 3rd party SNMP based systems.

openGear 10-slot Frame

The DFR-8310-N openGear frame which is equipped with TCP/IP networking and cooling fans is the required configuration for the Algogear card. The DFR-8310 blends the simplicity of a fixed rear connector frame and the flexibility of independent rear modules. For most applications which use BNC connectors, the frame is available with a fixed 100-BNC rear I/O module (DFR-8310-N-BNC). This frame configuration allows any openGear module using BNC connectors to be installed into any slot. Unused slots can be pre-wired into a facility, and installation of card modules can be done at any time without accessing the rear of the frame. For applications where other types of I/O connections are necessary (such as twisted-pair audio or fibre interfaces), the frame also supports slot-dependent rear I/O modules. Rear modules can be ordered with card modules, and are quick and easy to install.
